Guided Tour of the Smithsonian’s Newest Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture


The museum has 12 exhibitions which require more than a two-hour visit. Because we have a limited amount of time, the tour will focus on the History and Culture galleries.

Tour registrants should arrive at the museum no later than 8:00 a.m. We will meet at the group entrance which is located on the Madison Street side of the building. Registered participants will not be able to enter once the tour begins.


Directions from SEM:

  • Meet volunteer guide at 7:30 am in the Omni Shoreham Lobby, OR
  • Metro from Omni Shoreham, walk about 3 min to Woodley Park-Zoo Metro, take Red Silver Spring train to Metro Center (8 min travel time), walk 12 min to 1400 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. About 30 min travel time.
